Annual Maple Syrup Open House
March 17 and 18 2012
Hours 10-3
It's maple syrup season! Come witness the age old tradition of turning maple tree sap into all natural maple syrup using a wood fired evaporator.
Our Open House grows every year and people are amazed that you can make maple syrup in Pennsylvania let alone the Poconos. All natural syrup; tjhere are no additives or coloring!
Although we add more and more trees every year we usually sell out of syrup by summer.
We use a combination of old and new technologies. Right now we harvest maple sap using buckets and a modern day tubing system hooked up to high pressure vacuum. A food fired evaporator is used to boil the sap down filling the sugarhouse with sweet smelling steam.
There will be lots to do including a walk in the sugar woods, tree tapping demonstrations, and of course lots of tasting.
Please come out and join us for some maple talk and the season's first bottled batches of all natural maple syrup. If you would like to take a walk into the woods to tap trees please dress accordingly, conditions in the woods this time of year tend to be muddy.
